Oh exactly! It is not for the look but more important for the health, and that because when it comes to weight problem. That is not just how much fat you got but weight is really matters.

And People Visceral Fat also knows that Organs Fat are much more lightly to develop health problem than those Normal Body Fat.

That why, and to tell us more about Killer Fat, we have Dr. Alvina Nam who is in our studio with us this morning. Thank you for joining us. First of all, can you tell exactly what is Visceral Fat?

Visceral Fat! Visceral is actually the Fat that found in your abdomen, right inside pack in between the organs and around the organs like the kidneys, lever, and that quite different from the subcutaneous fat that really beneath your skin. The Visceral Fat is the one that give the person the perturbing abdomen, and give them the beer belly, and also the body shape like a pear, instead of apple.


Aha, and what is so dangerous about Visceral Fat that we call it Killer Fat as suppose to you know the fat just beneath your skin?

Well, they found that the Visceral Fat has been associated with the insulin resistance, with is like diabetes, coronary heart disease, high cholesterol and high triglyceride level.

Is it more difficult to get rid of than your normal fat?

Yes, possible. Yes, you probably need to exercise a little bit more. Um, normally, if you can do a breeze walk 30 minutes a day for one week, you probably would reduce a little bit, but if you do a little bit more than that, you can reduce a little bit better.

Now, are there certain group of people who are more prone to such problem and the risk involve, or it is a everybody, you know, pretty much acceptable.

Generally, if person is living as sedentary life, and eating a diet as high as saturated fat.

They will always be prone to developing Visceral Fat but the certain group of people who are much more prone to it. Men for example, trend to accumulate weight around the abdomen, and women, generally do not until after the menopause, then it starts to develop fat around the abdomen.

Why is that? Is that the hormone level takes place, comes into place?

That's right. That's right. When they reach the menopause, the female hormone such a reduce, and when that happen, they trend to adult like almost like a male body shape.

So, organ fat is a very dangerous, something that we should look out for. How do you know how much fat they have?

Well, the most accurate method is CMRI and CT Scan but that really is quite impractical. We can do simple measurement with ..... For man with more than 40 inches in waist ... is too high, for woman, be more than 35, or do a waist-hip ratio, but nowadays, they do have an equipment that a bit more certificated.

Doctor, we have it.

Exactly, and we're gonna do a demo, right? I'm gonna put myself on the test, and um, get off the machine that we have here in studio. So, all I have to do is to stand on the weight machine, and what do I do?

Well, I would have key in your basic details, like your age, and we're gonna take in some polynary measurement, and then you hold it up, and after a while, the figures will be there.

What is it showing? What is it? Am I healthy? Am I not healthy?

Oh, your Visceral Fat is 14%. Normally, it should not be above 9%. It is too high.

I am too high. I should do something about that.

That's right!

And how accurate is the machine like that?

Speedy accurate, they are going by violet gold impedance. So, taking a count of fat that fat tissue's much more resistance, compare to other tissues.

Ok, interesting! Ok!

Doctor, you said 14%. Is that a danger level? What is the range that we are looking at?


Wow, anything less than 9% is ok. 10-15%, we just say ........ high, and more than 15%, I think that guy got be really careful.

That thing says something about your diet, lifestyle.

That's right!

And diet, you should be as high as saturated fat.

So, how can the person like me reduce Visceral Fat?

Well, start exercising, doing your regular at lease 30 minutes of breeze walk, everyday for a week, every week, and also the diet because the reduce on your heart fat like the bottom and large.

Some people would ask, what's about liposuction? And ..... procedure?

Liposuction is, it does remove fat but it removes subcutaneous fat, not Visceral Fat.

Ok, it is not affected Visceral Fat.
